Let's face it guys; you knew this was coming didn't you?!! You know I am running for a charity, and in an effort to raise as much money for such a worthy cause (as well as one which holds such personal meaning) this blog seems like a good way to spread the word.
I am aware that many of the people who are reading these posts already know me; and as a result have the details of what to do to pledge some of their well-earned spondooolicks (God I love that word!). Having said that......aaaaaaah haaaaaaaaaave a dream!! Would you like to hear it.....? I promise it's clean.....................
Money pledged from people I know - and have the misfortune to know me! - is absolutely brilliant; but wouldn't it be amazing if a pledge comes in from someone I have never met? Someone who reads this blog on a regular basis but other than that has no connection with me whatsoever? They are moved to donate purely and simply on the basis of what I am trying to do. That my friends, is my dream. I would love there to be hundreds of them, but to be honest, just one will do (and if they are a millionaire, all the better!)! There is just something inherently positive - and slightly romantic - about it (or maybe it's just me). I mentioned in a previous post about ARKs; maybe this time I will be the ARKee instead of the ARKer!
So there it is, I am throwing the opportunity out there. I won't be coming after you if you don't sponsor me (but if I had your address.....THERE WOULD BE NOTHING TO STOP MEEEE.......MWAHAHA HAHAHAAAAAA!), as I still appreciate the fact that this my words are being read by people other than...........well.......me. But if you do decide to, either send me an e-mail, a message on here, or you should be able to log on to http://www.justgiving.com/fat-man-to-fit-man and sponsor me on there. Put it this way, if you want to sponsor me; don't let technology stop you!
6km on FFG tonight; I made the mistake of saying that the 5k run on Tuesday was a bit easy, so I'm sure I'm going to pay for that jogger's curse!
WELCOME
Hello there everyone, and welcome to my blog (hats off to 'Blogging for Dummies' for teaching this dummy how to....you know!).
I am overweight; make that very overweight. I think the technical term is 'morbidly obese'....ouch! Over the last few years I have had a few health warning shots, enough to make me realise that although there is nothing going on with my health that can't be reversed; my time is running out to do something about it before something really bad happens.
So this is my journey to health, and the plan is an ambitious one. I want to lose weight, and I want to get fitter; fit enough to run the Manchester 10k in May of 2012, fit enough to run a half marathon towards the end of 2012, and then fit enough to run the London Marathon in 2013, where the blogging journey will end at the finish line down the Mall.
I write this in the hope that the words and thoughts of both myself and readers can inspire me when the journey gets difficult, then hopefully people can be inspired by my story; believing that the most difficult journey is possible.
I make a promise to you that I will be honest - if the wheels fall off and I have six pizzas in two days, I will come clean - and I will do my very best. Share it with me.
......Wish me luck!!
