WELCOME

Hello there everyone, and welcome to my blog (hats off to 'Blogging for Dummies' for teaching this dummy how to....you know!).

I am overweight; make that very overweight. I think the technical term is 'morbidly obese'....ouch! Over the last few years I have had a few health warning shots, enough to make me realise that although there is nothing going on with my health that can't be reversed; my time is running out to do something about it before something really bad happens.

So this is my journey to health, and the plan is an ambitious one. I want to lose weight, and I want to get fitter; fit enough to run the Manchester 10k in May of 2012, fit enough to run a half marathon towards the end of 2012, and then fit enough to run the London Marathon in 2013, where the blogging journey will end at the finish line down the Mall.

I write this in the hope that the words and thoughts of both myself and readers can inspire me when the journey gets difficult, then hopefully people can be inspired by my story; believing that the most difficult journey is possible.

I make a promise to you that I will be honest - if the wheels fall off and I have six pizzas in two days, I will come clean - and I will do my very best. Share it with me.

......Wish me luck!!

Weigh-in Eve

All in all, I can 100% confirm that Weigh-in Eve is no nearly as much fun as Christmas Eve.
On December the 24th, you are decking the halls, stepping out for a winter walk and anxiously waiting for those jingle bells of Santa's sleigh; tonight I will be checking my calories, stepping up and down on my Wii Fit board and......well.......just anxiously weighting......

Weighing up (pardon the pun.....please, I beg you!!!!!) the positives and negatives, I think I should be ok this week. Again, no excessive boozing, an hour-long session on the Wii Fit, a night out at a Ceilidh (pronounced would you believe 'kay-lee'; for the uninitiated, it's jigging around to diddly-diddly music with the band-leader yelling out instructions on what to do next. Great fun!) which worked up a sweat, and a badminton match this week. In actual fact, I have a match on Tuesday too so I will make sure I weigh in after I get home from that (no rule that dictates precisely when I have to hop on the scales on a Tuesday night, as long as it's before my evening meal!)
On the negative side, I did have an indulgent meal out with the work buddies, and succumbed to a Spaghetti Carbonara........I know, I know! If it helps any, I did have diet coke with it....? I am banking on the fact that this one sin isn't going to cancel out all the exercise I have done....but there was rather a lot of cream in it! I was at least semi-restrained; I was in a restaurant and therefore resisted the temptation to lick the plate clean. All those calories saved by the cream left on that plate......could make all the difference!!
