Distance trained so far (53.3miles)
Here we go again! I am not sure how far back this routine goes, but having put on weight last week, we are now down a pound (actually 1.4 pounds) and I am dead on 16 stone 10 pounds. Plenty of exercise (3 gyms and a badminton session), a treaty tea with Mum on Saturday, followed by a Chinese takeaway on Sunday (with a portion of chips), but otherwise a good boy with the diet. Happy with the result (yip, with a couple of scoops of peee!), but we are all thinking the same thing; next week's weigh in is the clincher. Can I break the habit and lose weight two weeks on the run? I really hope so.
It is encouraging that I can get away with a bit of food naughtiness and still - considering the amount of exercise I am now doing - have a successful weigh in. But I'm not going to make a big thing of it this week, keeping focused and getting on with it!! (I'm going to be soooooo cheesed off if I put on weight again next week....!)
WELCOME
Hello there everyone, and welcome to my blog (hats off to 'Blogging for Dummies' for teaching this dummy how to....you know!).
I am overweight; make that very overweight. I think the technical term is 'morbidly obese'....ouch! Over the last few years I have had a few health warning shots, enough to make me realise that although there is nothing going on with my health that can't be reversed; my time is running out to do something about it before something really bad happens.
So this is my journey to health, and the plan is an ambitious one. I want to lose weight, and I want to get fitter; fit enough to run the Manchester 10k in May of 2012, fit enough to run a half marathon towards the end of 2012, and then fit enough to run the London Marathon in 2013, where the blogging journey will end at the finish line down the Mall.
I write this in the hope that the words and thoughts of both myself and readers can inspire me when the journey gets difficult, then hopefully people can be inspired by my story; believing that the most difficult journey is possible.
I make a promise to you that I will be honest - if the wheels fall off and I have six pizzas in two days, I will come clean - and I will do my very best. Share it with me.
......Wish me luck!!

Good news ... and fab news on the amount of exercise. I did have a thought (and you know how I like to share them!) ... are you keeping your pulse during training in the "fat-burning" zone? Might be worth checking with your trainer to make sure, as that will certainly make a difference. And then, if the weight is still on a plateau, you can be more certain that you are reducing fat, and increasing muscle :-)
Big hugs, and what a great achievement ... I mean to get a new photo on the right - noticeably different in the April one ...

@Wee_Ali Thanks for sharing! I am impressed by your knowledge of the 'fat-burning zone' (which for me is kinda like the Twighlight Zone but with more sweat). I do try and keep it low enough, but needing to up the distance means I 'go over' quite a lot of the time. No choice if I am going to get to 10k and beyond (possibly why the exercise is not having quite as much effect as I anticipated). Feeling fitter than I have done for years though!! xx
:-)
