Distance trained so far..........(98.1 miles)
This week might well have been a banana skin, with the focus entirely on this Sunday I really haven't been paying much attention to what I have been scoffing. Positive then that I have lost another pound! (actually 0.8 pounds, but good old rounding down eh??!). 16 stone 5 pounds; a new all-time fat man to fit man low! Not a huge amount, I know; but who cares?! This challenge has already been going for nigh on a year (that long???!), so if I haven't learnt patience by now I never will. I am now a pound closer to where I want to be, and a pound further away from what I was; and that is - again - to be celebrated.
Considering I pulled myself out of the men's singles club championships which were last Friday for fear of injury (no exercise that evening, unless you count pushing the remote control buttons? no? didn't think so.....worth a try.....), and only ran 3km last night as part of the pre-run gentle exercising week, I am actually pleasantly surprised by this week's result..........
Have you read the last post yet (no trumpet jokes please) about the perils of pretty girls removing items of clothing on the treadmill? Well, although happening to 'G', I confess that at time of writing it, it had never happened to me. Don't get me wrong; my gym does have its fair share of pretty girls, but most are already in a state of undress which on removing anything further would........well........ give the establishment a reputation for being 'so much than just a gym'. This was at least the situation, until last night, as precisely on the minute that the post was published, a pretty girl running next to me removed her sweatshirt! I do see 'G's point, as it was mighty impressive to see someone do that without faltering their stride. I am glad to report that I learnt the lesson and did not follow suit; for one thing I would have gone arse over 'ed, and in any case as I had only my running vest on I didn't think anyone would appreciate seeing Adrian and his amazing dancing moobs (one night only, don't forget to tip your waiter).
Did get some funny looks as I couldn't help but laugh at the coincidence!
With regards to next weeks weigh in, one would expect I will lose weight again, but be warned; although the big run is on the Sunday I am planning a post race blow out of some significant magnificence (I like that phrase!). Yes yes, I know that one of my elephant traps of losing weight is 'I've had a really good day, so I'm going to treat myself to something naughty'; and for the most part it has been kept under very tight control, but if a treat is ever going to be treated, then this is it! I've been using the stick for quite a while, and it would be nice to get a bit of carrot (although I do find it amusing that the treat in that scenario is a vegetable; who the hell wants a bit of carrot as a reward??!! if that's all I get then hit me with the bloody stick.........rhythm or otherwise......)
.....sorry......it's early morning when I write this and I don't think the pills have kicked in yet.......
WELCOME
Hello there everyone, and welcome to my blog (hats off to 'Blogging for Dummies' for teaching this dummy how to....you know!).
I am overweight; make that very overweight. I think the technical term is 'morbidly obese'....ouch! Over the last few years I have had a few health warning shots, enough to make me realise that although there is nothing going on with my health that can't be reversed; my time is running out to do something about it before something really bad happens.
So this is my journey to health, and the plan is an ambitious one. I want to lose weight, and I want to get fitter; fit enough to run the Manchester 10k in May of 2012, fit enough to run a half marathon towards the end of 2012, and then fit enough to run the London Marathon in 2013, where the blogging journey will end at the finish line down the Mall.
I write this in the hope that the words and thoughts of both myself and readers can inspire me when the journey gets difficult, then hopefully people can be inspired by my story; believing that the most difficult journey is possible.
I make a promise to you that I will be honest - if the wheels fall off and I have six pizzas in two days, I will come clean - and I will do my very best. Share it with me.
......Wish me luck!!

It's exciting ... I wish you well for Sunday! I'm sure it will be difficult and painful, but also fun and exhilarating. Enjoy it (and the blow-out afterwards)! You're doing so well.

@Wee_Ali
Thank you my dear; and with the exception of Clare and Dom, you will be the first to know how/if I did! Also just found out that they take photographs and video footage and number recognition means you can pull out anything that has you in it!! I feel a blog slideshow coming on!!! xxx Good luck with the move; to be honest I think I would rather do the run xxx
