WELCOME

Hello there everyone, and welcome to my blog (hats off to 'Blogging for Dummies' for teaching this dummy how to....you know!).

I am overweight; make that very overweight. I think the technical term is 'morbidly obese'....ouch! Over the last few years I have had a few health warning shots, enough to make me realise that although there is nothing going on with my health that can't be reversed; my time is running out to do something about it before something really bad happens.

So this is my journey to health, and the plan is an ambitious one. I want to lose weight, and I want to get fitter; fit enough to run the Manchester 10k in May of 2012, fit enough to run a half marathon towards the end of 2012, and then fit enough to run the London Marathon in 2013, where the blogging journey will end at the finish line down the Mall.

I write this in the hope that the words and thoughts of both myself and readers can inspire me when the journey gets difficult, then hopefully people can be inspired by my story; believing that the most difficult journey is possible.

I make a promise to you that I will be honest - if the wheels fall off and I have six pizzas in two days, I will come clean - and I will do my very best. Share it with me.

......Wish me luck!!

ALERT ALERT ALERT!!!

Might have a bit of a problem this week, upsetting the weigh-in Status Quo (that Rick Parfitt has a lot to answer for). Work is taking me down to London tomorrow night for a 9am meeting the morning after. the options therefore are.....
a. weigh in tonight
b. weigh in on foreign scales down in London
c. wait until I get home on Wednesday and do the do then

rationalising.......

a. Nope. Although I've eaten ok, I have been a bit light on the exercise (only the one social badminton night, not very taxing) so I am in desperate need of at least one session on the Wii-fit before I hop on the scales next.
b. Nope. I have nothing against foreign scales, I think providing foreign scales with a home is very acceptable providing those scales are prepared to contribute to society. Problem is that I might not get an accurate reading compared to all the weeks before. I would like my equipment (??!) to be consistent, to see if I am being consistent.
c. Yep. I can do my Wii fit session tonight and another on Wednesday before the weigh in. I do run the risk of eating naughty in the hotel tomorrow night, but the imminent weigh-in will give me good motivation to keep the nutritional halo over my head, and not dipped in batter, deep-fried, and eaten with large chips.

So the upshot of that is that you will have to hang on until Thursday morning for the latest news. Please forgive me, and don't send me any hate mail. I am fully aware of the pivotal role these updates play in your lives; as we speak I am finding it so difficult to type as my head has never before hanged so much in shame.

@Wee_Ali
...and pick the lowest one?! Genius!!
You have no idea how close I came to taking my scales with me. It's only because I am going in someone else's car that I didn't. Not sure I could satisfactorily explain that one. Some people take teddy bears, some take a favourite book, and SOME people.........
