Distance trained so far........(75.7 miles)
Three weeks on the bounce baby!! A grand total of one pound off, leaving me at 16 stone 7 pounds. Okay, strictly speaking I have only lost 0.6 pounds, but the rules of rounding down account for the rest (it can work against me too, so give me this one; pretty pleeeeease!). It represents a new all time low for Fat Man To Fit Man, not to mention an all time high for me! Only two more weighs in (weigh ins?) until the big race. It would have been nice to have broken the 16 stone barrier by then, but it looks like I will cross the start line a few pounds shy of that target. Having said that. plenty of pounds are likely to be shed on the run itself; so the 22nd of May weigh in should be a good 'un!......
This could be a tricky week though, and it hasn't started off in the greatest of fashions. I think it is safe to say that I was GAGGING for a Chinese takeaway last night after the weigh in (the 'I have done so well so I'll treat myself' elephant trap) and I'm afraid that I succumbed. Could I just say for the record that I REALLY BLOODY ENJOYED IT!!! It was particularly satisfying as it has been so long since I last had one (you know, the feeling that visiting Paris every so often is amazing, but if you live there....). Then this Friday is the badminton league's end of season dance (picking up two medals....didn't he do well.....?.....good game good game); booze will be drunk, and food will be fed; more importantly, no social badminton will be played.
So this means I am going to have to be exceptionally vigilant on the other days - particularly as one of them is a bank holiday - and keep my diet well and truly under control. Forewarned is forearmed. Tonight is a no-gym night, so a bit of pre-posting for the blog, a bit of watching the telly on footie (??!) and a health-conscious ratatiouoiolelle and rice. Hopefully it will balance out the damage of last night and Friday.
On another positive note, I appear - so far - to have cracked the issue of joggers nipple (quite a feat as it appear that as nipples go mine are more than averagely sticky-out.....you really didn't want to know that did you??!) with the liberal application of Vaseline keeping friction to a minimum. Don't tell anyone, but I am seriously considering applying some to the bottom of my running shoes and sliding all the way to the finish line........
WELCOME
Hello there everyone, and welcome to my blog (hats off to 'Blogging for Dummies' for teaching this dummy how to....you know!).
I am overweight; make that very overweight. I think the technical term is 'morbidly obese'....ouch! Over the last few years I have had a few health warning shots, enough to make me realise that although there is nothing going on with my health that can't be reversed; my time is running out to do something about it before something really bad happens.
So this is my journey to health, and the plan is an ambitious one. I want to lose weight, and I want to get fitter; fit enough to run the Manchester 10k in May of 2012, fit enough to run a half marathon towards the end of 2012, and then fit enough to run the London Marathon in 2013, where the blogging journey will end at the finish line down the Mall.
I write this in the hope that the words and thoughts of both myself and readers can inspire me when the journey gets difficult, then hopefully people can be inspired by my story; believing that the most difficult journey is possible.
I make a promise to you that I will be honest - if the wheels fall off and I have six pizzas in two days, I will come clean - and I will do my very best. Share it with me.
......Wish me luck!!

Great news ... am v. impressed! Keep on running (and doing all the other lovely exercises the gym-man suggested) and you'll do fine. And I really think the odd Chinese take-away has got to be included (or else life just gets far too dull) ...
Big hugs dear one, and I'm pleased that you are at an all-time low (weight). W-A x.
@Wee_Ali
Dear one?!!!? I object; asides from Christmas and birthday presents - and the odd magic trifle with detachable cream - I have not cost you a penny!!....
....just kidding....thanking you as always my lovely. If you log on and are excited to see a new post, it pales compared to logging in and seeing a morALI-boosting message from you. 6k tonight!! xx
