Ooooooooooo kaaaayyyyyyyy; that was unexpected. Either my scales are knackered, or I am going to go on TV and advocate the pizza diet; 'Yes ladies and gentlemen, I lost two pounds on the deep pan plan! A twelve inch (don't be crude) will lose you two inches round the waist; try it.....NOW!'
If indeed the scales are telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth, it can't be called a healthy weight loss, but I will take it nonetheless. It has been a weird week and the diet has been all over the shop - not to mention the lack of exercise - but maybe the indulgences have been outweighed (literally) by the times I couldn't face eating because of my poorly woorly toothie woothie. Also there may be a loss in muscle mass (don't ask me for any more information in this, not a clue; up until a few months ago when someone mentioned it to me, I though it was a place muscles go to on a Sunday morning). Anyway, 16 stone 10 pounds I now am (and yes, I did get on the scales three times to make absolutely sure)........
The phrase for the week ahead is 'cautious optimism'. Things are starting to stabilise - and more importantly, stop hurting - now; long may it continue I say. Still not going to do anything daft, but I can at least regain my focus on the right sorts of food (I feel an online supermarket shop coming on). This weekend may also provide the opportunity for me to enrol at the local gym (positive steps!! positive steps!!). I have made a startling discovery that I hate running in the freezing cold, and the gym will be a nice, controlled, and warm environment in which to to train.
The concrete is still drying, but there is hope of a good foundation to build an assault on the Great Manchester run this May.
Oh, and by the way; if you are frustrated - possibly relieved! - at the lack of photographic additions on the right hand side of this blog (there I am, over there; helloooo!), there are two reasons for this. Firstly, I was a bone idle numb nuts; secondly, when I finally got round to taking an up to date photograph, I discovered that my camera was knackered (it needed a new set of batteries every time I took a photo, and has now gone to the dark room in the sky). So the good - or bad! - news is that a new cam is on order, and once I have gone through the 35 page (font size 6) booklet on how to use it, a current snap will be uploaded (so, about 2014 then.....!).
WELCOME
Hello there everyone, and welcome to my blog (hats off to 'Blogging for Dummies' for teaching this dummy how to....you know!).
I am overweight; make that very overweight. I think the technical term is 'morbidly obese'....ouch! Over the last few years I have had a few health warning shots, enough to make me realise that although there is nothing going on with my health that can't be reversed; my time is running out to do something about it before something really bad happens.
So this is my journey to health, and the plan is an ambitious one. I want to lose weight, and I want to get fitter; fit enough to run the Manchester 10k in May of 2012, fit enough to run a half marathon towards the end of 2012, and then fit enough to run the London Marathon in 2013, where the blogging journey will end at the finish line down the Mall.
I write this in the hope that the words and thoughts of both myself and readers can inspire me when the journey gets difficult, then hopefully people can be inspired by my story; believing that the most difficult journey is possible.
I make a promise to you that I will be honest - if the wheels fall off and I have six pizzas in two days, I will come clean - and I will do my very best. Share it with me.
......Wish me luck!!

Cool ... but don't go thinking you can get away with that every week!! Hope the tooth no longer painful, and that the cold is long gone ... and hope that you find a nice gym to sign up to. It's all progress, and you're doing great - especially to sound so upbeat despite the battering you seem to have taken over the last couple of months. Big hugs. X.
@Wee_Ali
Thanks my little cherub; after the last couple of weeks I am preparing for the next disaster, but hopefully it won't happen and there will be calmer seas ahead me hearty x
